The Department for Education has selected Wates Construction as partner for the development of the Brook Mead Academy permanent site at Groby Road. We met with Wates last week to start the exciting process of developing the detailed designs in readiness for a planning application early in 2023. During this meeting, we had the opportunity to see the initial renderings of the new Brook Mead building.
A proposal has been agreed which includes a generous teaching block, a fabulous separate sports block and brilliant external facilities for our scholars. This will all be built within a site shielded from the road and neighbours by retained and enhanced natural woodland and ecology areas.
The process we have now commenced will refine these designs and will include opportunity for the wider Brook Mead family, the Academy’s new neighbours, and other interested parties to comment and input into the final planning submission in the new year.
We are delighted to share with you that formal planning permission has been granted for the Brook Mead permanent site on Groby Road. This is great news for everyone, but especially our children, families and staff who will benefit from the wonderful facilities in our new building. There is much work to be done to turn our plans into reality but receiving planning permission is a huge step forward. We will share more details with you as we progress through the building phase.
